Parvati Chatterjee Mazumdar has been a teacher and educator focusing on comparative and interdisciplinary curriculum design with themes of national and Global Citizenship Education and critical pedagogy, in addition to having worked as an independent education consultant. Her main research interests are teacher education and Citizenship Education, the subject of her ongoing doctoral research with India as Case Study. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in History and Education and a first Master’s degree in Sociology from India where she started her teaching career. Her second Master’s degree is in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York. Her research interest springs from her career of over twenty- five years as a teacher of Social Studies and English in schools with diverse student populations in India, USA, Egypt, China and Nepal. She has presented extensively at conferences and workshops on interdisciplinary and critical pedagogies in the countries she has lived and worked.
