"The first common elections in the EU, now enlarged to 25 states: The picture shows the casting of votes in the Hungarian village of Torokbakint to the west of Budapest."

Picture Analysis
Pictures of people casting votes in connection with the elections to the European Parliament are a typical way of visualizing the political participation of EU-Citizens: Such pictures make clear the political rights of the citizens of EU-Europe. At the same time, they offer a sense of identification since the act of balloting for elections to the European Parliament takes place in each of the EU-member states and is therefore depicted as an event common to all EU-citizens.
